Schiapparelli was founded in 1824 by Giovanni Battista Schiaparelli, the owner of the first pharmacy ever founded in the city of Turin. In his small laboratory, located in the back of his pharmacy, G.B. Schiapparelli was the first to start a large-scale production of chimical compounds such as: quinine sulfate and sulfuric acid.
That was the beginning of the Pharmaceutical Industry in Italy.

Later, his sons, Tancredi and Annibale Schiapparelli, carried on their father's work and in 1906, they established Schiapparelli 1824 , a Limited Company, that acquired many smaller firms operating in the pharmaceutical sector. In the late 80's, the Company expanded its business through the acquisition of controlled companies which were strong in the fields of perfumery, cosmetics and organic food. Since then, Schiapparelli Pharmaceuticals and its affiliates have distributed important brands of the ethical, OTC  and medical fields , such us: Neutrogena, Neotoni, Borocillina, Lorans, Eupress, Ketodol, Pupil, Dupla, Euvita, Quid, Sal Control, Fitgar, Noxema.

At the end of 2010, Paglieri S.p.A. acquired Schiapparelli brand bringing it back to Alessandria, which is located in Piemonte county. In line with its century-old tradition based on perfumery and cosmetics, Paglieri has started the consolidation of its expertise in the wellness field through the development of the pharmaceutical products.
